Nokia is Back. The Former King of Phones has officially announced its plans to make a Comeback into the world of Smartphones and Tablets with Android as it’s OS.
Nokia announced this news with also as to how it will happen. This move will happen with both HMD Global and Foxconn’s FIH subsidiary.
HMD global, a newly founded company based in Finland is founded by former Nokia executives.
Nokia will take a seat on the board of directors of HMD and will set standards for performance and brand requirements so “that all Nokia-branded products exemplify consumer expectations of Nokia devices, including quality, design and consumer-focused innovation.”
HMD will pump $500 million in global marketing over the next three years to revitalize the Nokia name, which has been cooling off after years of relative inactivity.
Then there’s another company FIH Mobile Limited, a subsidiary of Foxconn. It will acquire the rights to Nokia feature phones from Microsoft in the second half of this year for $350 million. It also acquires Microsoft Mobile Vietnam, which along with its 4,500 employees were responsible for manufacturing the Nokia-branded feature phones.
Well, we will have to wait and watch as to whether Nokia can make a Comeback. Because the market has become a lot bigger with a lot of competitors in every Range. But no matter what it’ll be exciting to watch as to what kind of Ripples can Nokia create in the world of Gadgets.
Personally, I’m Excited as to whether the Legendary Build Quality and Hardware of Nokia with the Combination of Android at it’s heart can be a Recipe of Success. Let’s wait and Watch.
